Environmental treatment can be a particularly difficult subject. It is a vast field, not known to many people, or even interested in knowledge. Look, how many of your friends in real life familiar with the term “environmental treatment”? Some? Few? nothing? I’ll go with the latter.
Environmental treatment is important because it directly affects our treatment of our natural environment. It is the branch of science that deals with the removal of contaminants or pollution from environmental media such as surface water, sediments, groundwater, and soil. For what? For public protection and the utility of human health.
Treatment is a principle widely practiced throughout the world within the various government agencies, each with its own series of regulatory requirements and precautions.
Some of the most commonly known environmental remediation techniques are dredging, drilling, SEAR, surface-enhanced surface treatment, pump and treatment, stabilization and hardening, on-site oxidation, etc.
One of the most complex and environmental treatment types is soil vapor extraction or SVE. The following steps explain how soil vapor extraction works.
Steam Extract Solid
Soil vapor extraction is a type of treatment technology used to treat contaminated soil, as its name suggests. Another similar but different type of treatment technology is the MPE or Multi-Phase extraction, which is used in soil and groundwater treatment but differs from SVE in that both methods use different types of techniques.
Soil vapor extraction is divided into three different types:
- Granulated Activated Carbon – Granular activated carbon (GAC) is a technology used as a filter for water or air. The GAC is usually seen in household drains used to filter tap water. But it is ineffective in filtering heavy metals out of the water.
- Thermal oxidation – Thermal oxidation is another type of technology, but it is also effective. But this approach has been controversial since then because it releases dioxins into the atmosphere as exhaust gas.
- Steam Intensification – Steam condensation is the most efficient type of treatment technology (around gas) for high concentration vapor streams. This technique is sometimes called refrigerant cooling and pressure.
Soil vapor extraction is one of the most complex types of environmental treatment techniques, but it also means that it is one of the most effective techniques. It is a technique done by experts in the field, environmental reform engineers and scientists. If you have reason to doubt the level of soil pollution, it is best to contact your local agency to conduct a test on your property.
